Future Mail:

When you look at your old pictures.. you usually get surprised by the fact that you very different then. Sometimes, you quiz your parents about your past self. As we grew old we tend to lose ourselfs. The future mail helps you remember the things you cherished.

5 years back i sent a mail to myself, which i eventually got 2 years later. When i sent that mail, i was under lot of stress and i am very much concerned about the future. Especially, i was worrying about the project i was doing then. I believed that it was the end of road. I even warned myself about my weaknesses and hoped that i will be a changed man by the time i read that mail (of course it didn’t happen). And the project eventually got completed successfully :) .

The point is when you look at your old pictures, you don’t know what you were thinking then. But, with future mail i had the joy of reviewing my progress. Reading about myself from past gave an insight about how people change over the years.

onas Pfeil, a student from the Technical University of Berlin has created a rugged, grapefruit-sized ball that has 36 fixed-focus, 2-megapixel digital camera sensors built in. The user simply throws the ball into the air and photos are simultaneously taken with all 36 cameras to create a full, spherical (360-degree?) panorama of the surrounding scene.

The basic premise for the project is that taking panoramic images using a conventional still camera is a bore: you either need special hardware and software, like theGigaPan system, or you have to painstakingly shoot the photos and arrange them yourself when you get back home. The Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera (it doesn’t seem to have a nickname) automatically takes 36 photos when it’s at the highest point of its trajectory, and it comes with a panoramic image viewer that displays the images as a pannable, zoomable sphere that you can move around; a lot like Google Street View.

The ball itself is made with a 3D printer, and the innards (which include 36 STM VS6724 CMOS camera sensors, an accelerometer, and two microcontrollers to control the cameras) are adequately padded, so presumably it doesn’t matter if you suck at throwing and catching. You can see from the video below that the ball is too big (but not too heavy) for single-handed use — but considering this is the work of a master’s degree student, it’s safe to assume that the same hardware could be miniaturized into something like a tennis ball. It seems like every camera has independent exposure control, too, which in this case isn’t necessarily a good thing; notice how some fragments of the panoramas are different colors.

Sense of life…

It is always a topic of debate… Hindu Culture (not Indian). Whenever given chance people start complaining about how people were discriminated and about the superstitions, etc. But, is the society any better now with all the education and western culture… i don’t think so. I am starting to understand (probably) essence of Hindu culture. It is a very complicated system, cant generalize here. But, i can give some examples.

Cast System: It is a wonderful system.. please dont start flaming me, I have my reasons. If you closely observe people, you can find similar behavior among the same caste people. Cant you agree.. lets continue..Caste system originated from the professions. So, try observing people doing the same professions from different geographical regions.. i am sure you will find similarities between them (provided they have been doing that profession from generations). Hence, the caste system helps in binding the people with similar lifestyle, stick together. Whats wrong in it ? it doesnt mean you should hate other castes. Also during weddings; marrying the same caste bride/groom helps you/partner have a smooth transition into the family.

I might not have explained it in a good way, but my intention was to make people remind the roots of our existence. I am sleepy now.. will continue in detail.. later…

27th Dec 2010, joined AT & T. There is not a great feeling about joining the company. Don’t know why.. probably it was not all skills that got me this job. But, i am certainly looking forward to make my mark.

rambling: i certainly felt that my student life was way cooler and challenging than the corporate life… wish i realized this sooner. Been going through lot of things that i never wanted to face in my life (may not look bad to others, but certainly to me).. guess its time to start taking life as it comes and not to complain about anything.

It is fascinating at the same time frustrating to realize that there is always something to learn for you. Positive mind lets you learn everything from anything, when you cant think positive everything seems brittle.

Thats it ! another year passed by… right before my eyes. I wish and hope 2010 will bring enlightenment and fulfillment to our lifes ;)

I never cared much about birthdays. I have certain opinions on celebrating birthdays. Why should we celebrate in the first place ? birthday reminds yourself…. it makes you realize that you are running away from your innerself. One should celebrate birthday, only when he stops running from his weaknessses. It can be any day. But, we have a high probability that one can change on his birthday.

Ok, coming to this birthday, it is a very special one for me. My father told rao garu to buy clothes for me. What can i ask more for ? I have celebrated my birthday with my brothers…….Its a memorable one for me… I will remeber it forever…
